Tinpot Hut

One of the rising stars of Marlborough, Tinpot Hut is a surprising example of how classy and refined Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc can be. With their 2016 vintage they arrived on the scene with the joint highest-rated vintage of any Sauvignon in the region's history as well as being named Decanter's top wine of the vintage. Since then they have rapidly become one of the most in-demand every-day drinkers in New Zealand and each vintage heralds new success but thankfully no increase in price!

Tinpot Hut Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (6x75cl)
Inc. TAX: €173.70
2019

Tinpot Hut Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (6x75cl) Tinpot Hut is the epitome of restrained, old-world style New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc; it appeals to lovers of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. It also serves as a counterpoint to the more tropical, overt style of Cloudy Bay.

Fruit for this wine is grown on wine-maker Fiona Turner’s own Home Block vineyard. After fermentation it is blended with three select parcels from the Blind River, Dashwood, and Lower Wairau sub-regions of Marlborough. Once settled, the batches are cool fermented in stainless steel tanks using specific cultured yeasts to add complexity while retaining the fresh fruit characteristics from each of the individual vineyards.

This is rich and stylish Marlborough Sauvignon, with characters of blackcurrant bud and fresh cut thyme. Underlying ripe fruit and mineral notes from the grapes grown in Blind River combine with the more tropical notes of passionfruit and melon from the Wairau Valley vineyards.
