Dominio del Aguila
Ribera del Duero is fast becoming (if not already!) one of the top Spanish wine regions following Rioja and Priorat, home to icons like Vega Sicilia and Pingus. Dominio del Aguila has become the latest name to join the ranks, hardly surprising when wines from Dominio del Aguila are made by Jorge Monzon who had previously worked for none other than Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Vega Sicilia. It certainly also helps that their fruit comes from “one of the most impressive collections of old vines in Ribera del Duero” (Luis Gutiérrez) and are fermented with indigenous yeasts.
Dominio del Aguila is Pascual's own project in Ribera del Duero after collecting tiny parcels of old vines for 10 years. The freshness and purity of the estate’s wines captured the imaginations of the press, and they were widely proclaimed to be some of the most exciting new wines to be coming out of Spain.
