Vasse Felix

For over 50 years Vasse Felix has pioneered the emergence of some of Australia’s finest cool-climate wines. We are huge fans of this estate, and the rest of the wine world is rapidly catching on to this remarkable Margaret River gem.
Established in 1967, Vasse Felix is one of the most historic estates in Australia, the founding winery of Margaret River it occupies the best vineyards in the region. Brilliantly managed by 2017's 'Female Winemaker of the Year' Virginia Wilcock, each passing vintage is progressively more impressive and this new release 2018 is without doubt the most remarkable to date.

Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay 2019 (6x75cl)

The Real Review (97)

Light, bright yellow hue. Smoky oak and reductive notes add a patina to the bouquet which is more complex as a result. Grapefruit rocketing through on the palate, which is taut and refined, focused and long. Great precision here. Grapefruit comes up more and more on the nose (Gingin clone?), while the palate is impressively intense, refined, subtly concentrated and extremely long-lasting. A great chardonnay with a very bright future ahead of it.

Vasse Felix Tom Cullity 2014 (6x75cl)

James Suckling (98)

A very insightful blend of predominantly cabernet sauvignon with 16% malbec and 4% petit verdot. This is a single-vineyard wine at the pinnacle of the endeavors of Vasse Felix. It opens with red fruits in the redcurrant and red-cherry zone, as well as fresh red and purple flowers with some deeper notes of blue fruit. The palate is the star though. The way that the malbec entwines itself around cabernet's linear tannins and enriches the wine without fundamentally changing its shape is genius. A supple, fresh and commanding Margaret River red. Best from 2022.

Vasse Felix Tom Cullity 2017 (6x75cl)

The Real Review (98)

Deep red/purple colour with a very fresh, nuanced, aromatic bouquet loaded with blue and red fruits, cedar and high-toned flowers, violets to the fore. A totally gorgeous bouquet, very fresh and primary but also complex and detailed. Very fine tannins; extremely long carry. A supremely elegant, sublime wine that finishes right out with impressive extension. Clearly, the best Tom Cullity to date. (17% malbec; 1% petit verdot)
