Dujac

This Morey-Saint-Denis based producer is one of the region’s top cult wineries. Gaining a reputation for rich, full bodied Red Burgundy, the modus operandi was to make use of whole-cluster fermentation and 100% new oak. A trademark style which continued until 1999, the estate remains one of the most sought-after, distinctive sources of Burgundy.

Dujac Chambolle-Musigny 2017 (6x75cl)

Wine Advocate (87-89)

Aromas of red berries, peony and spices introduce the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village, a pretty middle-weight that's medium-bodied, juicy and succulent, framed by light structuring tannins.

Dujac Chambolle-Musigny 2019 (6x75cl)

Burghound (88-91)

(from Les Drazeys, Les Argillières and Les Fremières). A ripe combination features notes of plum, spice and pretty violet and lavender nuances. There is both good detail and vibrancy while offering good length if only average depth at present. In sum, this is certainly attractive but not deep. (88-91)/2026+

Dujac Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 (6x75cl)

Wine Advocate (94+)

The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is showing brilliantly from bottle, bursting from the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, cassis, orange rind, spices, black truffle, espresso roast and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and mouthfilling, with a layered and nicely concentrated core, ripe tannins and succulent acids, concluding with a long and expansive finish.

Dujac Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018 (3x75cl)

Wine Advocate (93-95)

The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru was also showing very well, offering up an expressive bouquet of ripe cherries, cassis, warm spices and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, supple and textural, with a broad attack, good depth and energy at the core, powdery structuring tannins and a sapid finish.

Dujac Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2019 (3x75cl)

Wine Advocate (93-95+)

The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is serious, unwinding in the glass with scents of raspberries, cherries, woodsmoke, orange rind and petals that are framed by a deft touch of new oak. Full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, it's a bit more overtly structured than the domaine's Echézeaux (which preceded it in this tasting), with a tightly wound core and chalky back-end grip.

Dujac Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru 2016 (6x75cl)

Wine Advocate (95-97)

The 2016 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has a superior bouquet to the Clos de la Roche, with ebullient raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, quite floral in style with orange blossom scents developing in the glass. There is an underlying sense of terroir, but it feels very discrete at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation, harmonious and fresh with a long, tender, noble finish that is pulled out of the top drawer. This is a potentially awesome Clos-Saint-Denis that has a very bright future, one that might surpass the excellent 2015.
