When the two brothers, Bruno and Marcello Ceretto, joined their father in the 1960s they set off on a trip to Burgundy that had a huge impact on their family business. When they returned they sought out historically important vineyards in the Langhe, determined to establish the Burgundian idea of "cru" wine where the Barolo single vineyard features on the label in contrast to their father who bought and blended wines from across the region. They now also use native yeasts and practice biodynamic viticulture to give the purest expression of the land. These are intriguing, deeply layered wines that are in the pristine, modern style.
