Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (94)Exceptionally good, there is such heart to this wine, with rugged-textured tannins, edges of slate and salted black chocolate, sculpted blueberry fruits, touch of sage and fresh earth. Great stuff from owners and winemakers Jean-Claude and Jeff Berrouet. Will soften over next few years, but no need to wait too long to get going on this lovely wine. 20% new oak. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (94)The 2020 Villemaurine has a lovely bouquet with fine delineation and terroir expression, red and black fruit, crushed stone and light orange pith aromas. A second bottle exudes more of the Cabernet Franc and imparts a Medocian tincture. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy with a velvety texture, and great depth. It conveys wonderful detail on the finish. Excellent. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93-95)Vray Croix de Gay is a powerful, brooding wine in 2020. It will be interesting to see if a measure of finesse develops with élevage. There is plenty of richness, that is for sure. Time in the glass, brings out a whole range of red-fleshed fruit, cedar, tobacco, dried flowers and mocha, are all framed by incisive, insistent tannins. |
