Bright, dark red. Highly complex, expressive scents and flavors of black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, licorice, animal fur and brown spices. Rich, pliant and slightly wild in the mouth, conveying compelling Gevrey perfume. Very suave for Cazetiers and most impressive on the back end, which features serious but smooth tannins and rising, palate-staining length. Cazetiers is our most consistent Gevrey premier cru after Clos Saint-Jacques, notes winemaker Frédéric Barnier.

Vinous (91+)

Bright medium red. Floral and peppery high notes to the aromas of red berries, medicinal red cherry, iron and herbs. Offers very good density and a fine-grained texture, showing a subtle sweetness to its red berry, spice and menthol flavors. Lovely inner-mouth definition and lift here: this wine really showcases the raciness of the vintage. This juicy, fruity but also minerally Rugiens finishes with a very fine dusting of tannins that reach the front teeth and attractive floral lift. Still a baby.

A beautiful and sexy red with blueberry and blackberry character. Hints of coffee and spices. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Very fine and pretty. The 2014 Cristal Rosé sizzles with energy. Finely cut and crystalline to the core, the 2014 is laced with striking vibrancy. Chalk, mint, white flowers, cranberry and blood orange all race across the palate. Deceptively understated and nuanced, the 2014 possesses tons of energy and captivating inner perfume. The 2014 is at the beginning of what is sure to be a very long life. I would not plan on opening a bottle for at least a few years. The style of the vintage is one built on linear intensity more than opulence, like say 2004, with captivating aromatics and a sort of inner tension that needs to resolve. As always, the Rosé is done in the classic Roederer infusion style in which Pinot Noir is vinified on the skins and then blended with Chardonnay to complete the fermentation. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: June 2022.

Moderately saturated medium red. Musky aromas of redcurrant, coffee and pepper. Red berry and spice flavors are complemented by subtle earthy nuances, with harmonious acidity giving the wine a juicy quality. Finishes with lovely lift and sneaky thrust.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94+)

The 2014 Malartic-Lagravière is a gorgeous wine, but it is also flamboyant and exotic, especially in its flavor profile. Super-ripe red cherry and plum make a strong first impression. Sweet floral and spice notes, along with ripe, silky tannins, add to the wine's sensuality. A rich, powerful wine with soft contours and striking depth, the 2014 is a real beauty. It will be even more compelling once the new oak tannins soften a bit further. The blend is 52 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 40 % Merlot, 5 % Cabernet Franc and 3 % Petit Verdot. Tasted two times.

This is a classy Cros Parantoux, maybe the standout from the domaine this year.
