The 2017 La Parde Haut-Bailly is a classy, understated wine. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice, spice and new leather all flesh out in this juicy, supple second wine from Haut-Bailly. The 2017 offers lovely depth and enough pedigree to drink well for a number of years.Inc. TAX€363.07 -

The 2017 La Réserve de Malartic has a simple but not unattractive nose with brambly red berry fruit mixed with brown spices, hoisin and sandalwood. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannins, although the middle and finish has sufficient earthy red fruit to keep everything balanced. The 2018 La Réserve de Malartic-Lagravière is a very pretty, fruity wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Hints of iron, cedar, tobacco, mint and dried herbs add an attractive, savory touch. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2012 tasting. The 2012 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc felt as if it was burdened with too much new oak on the nose, though underneath lie some attractive citrus fruit mixed with peach and apricot skin. I will be optimistic and opine that the oak will be subsumed as long as it is afforded two or three years of cellaring. The palate is well balanced, the new oak lending creaminess and a slight nuttiness - indeed, blind you might almost mistake it for a Meursault. Partly it is because of the new oak, but I can still see how this has wide appeal and you end up being seduced. Tasted January 2016.Inc. TAX€332.87 -
