The finish is rich but also strikingly focused, transparent to stony nuances, and downright refreshing, a combination one seldom experiences from an Auslese, much less one from material as high in must weight and botrytis as was involved here. The wine is sweet rather than medium-sweet, but its crystalline and elegant acidity and aromatic intensity make this a spectacularly great 2018 with greatly deposed power.
