Domaine de Chevalier
Domaine de Chevalier is distinctive as one of the few Graves estates that make powerful yet graceful white and red wine. They have been creating one of the best dry whites in Bordeaux for a number of years but their red is just returning to its former glory, reaping the rewards of a bold replanting in the 1980s.

James Suckling (99)Very complex aromas of pears, persimmons, honey and cooked apples. Mineral undertones. Always subtle and multidimensional. Full-bodied with a tight and dense middle palate that gives a superb mouthfeel. It's lively and flavorful at the end but in a reserved way. Just a hint of bitter lemon and lilac. I really want to drink this, but give it three or four years to reach the right place. |

James Suckling (97-98)This is layered and complex with an impressive mineral tension and depth. Medium- to full-bodied, very long and persistent. It has oyster shell, crushed stone and citrus peel character with racy acidity coming through, adding to its length and tension. Very long and firm at the end with a backbone of fine tannins for a white. 70% sauvignon blanc and 30% semillon. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (92)The 2022 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc does not have the bandwidth of La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc on the nose, slightly more malic, though it gains complexity in the glass, with touches of nettle and orange blossom emerging. The palate is slightly honeyed on the entry, a more powerful and sunny expression of the growing season, weighty with a pleasing oiliness and spiciness towards the finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London. |
