Vinous (93-96)(70% vendange entier; 100% new oak; these 80-year-old vines produced 37 hectoliters per hectare in 2013): Bright, dark red. Lovely pepper-and-spice lift to the aromas of red cherry, rose petal and licorice. Sappy and dense, with a captivating light touch and a compelling sweet/savory balance to the red fruit and licorice flavors. The very long finish features noble tannins and a building spiciness. A bit hard to taste today owing to a high level of carbon dioxide but looks to be brilliant. |

Wine Advocate (93)Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Hauts Doix has a reserved, tightly wound bouquet, but there is decent fruit stored up here, black plum and raspberry coulis, damp earthy notes that become more accentuated in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, plenty of juicy red fruit laid over fine structure, plus there is fine mineralité surfacing on the finish to complete to a very well-made Chambolle-Musigny from Nicolas Groffier. Tasted September 2016. |

Wine Advocate (92)Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers has an upfront, fruit-driven bouquet with pure raspberry, wild strawberry and dried rose petal aromas that unfurl in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, gentle at first but segueing into quite a structured and multi-layered finish with edgy redcurrant and crushed strawberry notes on the finish. This is excellent. Tasted September 2016. |

Wine Advocate (92)Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambertin Grand Cru is deeper in color than its peers. There is a slight reduction here but underneath lies some very fine raspberry and black plum fruit, though it needs to demonstrate more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannin and then it seems to run out of ideas towards the finish and finishes a little uninspired. Hmm ... this is a Chambertin outclassed by some of Rossignol-Trapet's less revered crus at the moment. Though it remains a very fine 2013, it falls short of how I expected it to perform given its splendid showing in barrel. Tasted September 2016. |

Vinous (89+)Palish medium red. Aromatic, open-knit nose offers notes of cherry, rose petal and cinnamon. Tightly wound but not hard, with juicy, perfumed dark raspberry and floral flavors intensified by firm acidity and underlying minerality. Juicy, refreshing wine with riper tannins and more length than the Clos Prieur. I may be underrating this. |

Wine Advocate (94)Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very composed bouquet with fine delineation, bright redcurrant and cranberry fruit, later hints of dried blood and potpourri. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, gentle and yet harmonious with gorgeous mulberry and red plum fruit, underneath which lies very fine mineralité. With great length to boot, this is an excellent Latricières from Rossignol-Trapet. Tasted September 2016. |

Vinous (90+)Full medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, mint, wild herbs and menthol, plus a strong note of licorice pastille. Tightly wound and backward; comes across as drier than the Gevrey cuvées. Very pure and high-pitched but distinctly rigid today. Strong tannins saturate the front teeth and incisors. Tough going today and in need of patience. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny Les Clos de l’Orme offers superb quality for a village-level wine. One of the first wines to go through malolactic fermentation, the Clos de l'Orme is already very nicely put together. These 50-70 year-old vines confer richness and persistence, but there is also notable energy in the glass. Citrus-inflected overtones add brightness and exotic flair to the finish. |

Vinous (92-94)A very different side of Nuits St. Georges emerges from the 2013 Aux Murgers. Here it is the wine's broad, ample texture that stands out. Silky tannins wrap around the creamy finish in an expansive, generous Burgundy that is likely to provide readers will a long drinking window of pure pleasure. |

Vinous (91-93)Cathiard's 2013 Nuits St. Georges Aux Thorey is packed with implosive energy. Dark blue and black stone fruits, smoke, spice and new leather come through, but the 2013 remains tightly wound, with imposing tannins and notable concentration. I expect the 2013 is going to need a good decade to start strutting its stuff. Still, there is plenty to look forward to. |

Vinous (94+)The 2013 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru has a typically powerful bouquet with macerated small dark cherries, a hint of dark chocolate and loamy aromas that envelop the senses, developing more floral top notes with aeration. The palate is supple and silky smooth, very sensual with black cherries, boysenberry and spice with just a slight bitterness on the persistent finish. It is probably a decade too young to drink this, so keep any bottles in the cellar for several years. Tasted at 21 Boulevard restaurant in Beaune. |

Vinous (93)The 2013 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is a wine that I have not tasted since in barrel. It has blossomed on the nose with charming redcurrant, Morello and tertiary scents, a subtle damp moss and undergrowth aroma gradually becoming more prominent with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, a palpable sense of energy and impressive precision towards the finish that leaves the mouth tingling with glee afterwards. Impressive and this comes highly recommended. Tasted at Flint Wines’ Taupenot-Merme retrospective. |

Vinous (92)Healthy dark red. Pungent aromas of dried flowers and iodine are complicated by a resiny note. Dense, sweet and deep, conveying an impression of power to its savory flavors of dried flowers and potpourri. Finishes with noteworthy aromatic persistence. This wine will rely as much on its acidity as on its tannins for longevity. |

Vinous (93+)Deep, bright red. Captivating aromas of strawberry, raspberry, cherry liqueur, soy sauce and porcini. At once dense and juicy, conveying outstanding energy and firm underlying minerality to its flavors of red fruits, spices, dried flowers and earth. Still tightly wound but not hard, this strong effort finishes with firm but sweet tannins and terrific rising length. |
