Ripe, dense and tangy, showing a lovely balance of sweetness and acidity to its lemon and orange flavors. (bottled in January of this year; began in 20% new oak and 80% _cuve, then was assembled in old barrels after the malolactic fermentation): Medium yellow. Strong vanillin oak on the nose. Ripe, plush and dry, with the stone fruit flavors currently dominated by oak spice and caramel. Still a bit youthfully austere but fresher than the Cuvée Authentique. The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes was slightly reduced on the nose, but on the palate there feels like a little more depth and extraction compared to Laurent Ponsot’s other 2013 crus with succulent ripe tannins, plenty of blackcurrant and wild strawberry fruit with a dense finish that will require some bottle age. The 2013 Clos de la Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, from vines planted in 1905, has an inviting, delineated bouquet with vibrant wild strawberry, raspberry preserve and mineral notes. The palate has great tension – so suave and poised with superb symmetry and an effortless finish that I don’t think the Clos Saint Denis has at the moment. Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of raspberry, minerals and dried flowers complicated by torrefaction notes of mocha and coffee. Round on entry, then sappy in the middle, showing terrific crushed raspberry intensity along with saline, mocha, spice and earth notes. This very taut, energetic wine is even more backward than the Amoureuses. Really saturates the palate on the back end, finishing with outstanding smoky persistence.In Bond€1,340.00 -
