Vinous - Antonio Galloni (95)The 2019 Lafon-Rochet is every bit as compelling today as it was from barrel. There is a feeling of elegance to the 2019 that is so striking. Sweet dark cherry, plum new leather, tobacco, licorice, spice and rose petal all grace the 2019 as it unwinds to its long finish. Lafon-Rochet is not huge nor obvious, as some Saint-Estèphes are, but it is absolutely compelling. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)The 2019 Les Cruzelles is a very serious wine. Black cherry, gravel, graphite, cloves, leather and smoke confer a real feeling of gravitas. Vinous - Neal Martin (88)The 2019 Les Pensées de La Tour Carnet feels a little closed and stubborn on the nose and needs more fruit expression. Just give it 12–18 months for the aromatics to shift up a gear. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (92-94)The 2019 Lilian Ladouys has a powerful, quite burly bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, wine gums, touches of blueberry and violet. It feels more Margaux than Saint-Estèphe! The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, fine grip, just a hint of piquancy and a lovely estuarine/briny influence that defines the classic finish. I prefer the palate to the aromatics at this juncture, but overall this is promising. Tasted thrice with consistent notes. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)The 2019 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur is a terrific second wine. Ample, bold and dramatic, the 2019 packs a huge punch. Black cherry, plum, new leather, graphite and incense build as this flamboyant, opulent Saint-Estèphe shows off its considerable allure. The 2019 is a big wine, but the 15.1% alcohol is not especially evident. |

Vieux Chevrol has been keeping the tradition of wine-making alive since the 19th century. Following a philosophy of minimal intervention, the skilled artisans here have managed to harmoniously blend 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon to create the Vieux Chevrol 2019. Each sip unfolds a complex symphony of ripe red and black fruit paired with refined notes of spice. The Vieux Chevrol 2019 possesses a lush texture, marked by structured tannins and a lengthy finish. A noteworthy vintage, it perfectly encapsulates the essence of Vieux Chevrol’s historical viticultural practices and relentless passion for quality. Elegant and rewarding, Vieux Chevrol 2019 truly is a wine for the discerning palate. |
