I love this château, and the 2019 Château Soutard-Cadet is another brilliant wine that's in the same ballpark as the 2018. Sporting a deep purple hue as well as a rich, powerful nose of ripe black fruits, scorched earth, spicy oak, graphite, and damp earth, it's rich and concentrated, yet the purity is brilliant, it has silky and perfectly ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. As I wrote from barrel, it's going to benefit from just 2-4 years of bottle age and, I suspect, have 20, 25, if not 30 years of overall longevity.Inc. TAX€253.43 -

The local bad boy of Bordeaux, Jean-Luc Thunevin, continues to fashion truly brilliant wines, and his 2019 is no exception. Based largely on Merlot with small amount of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2019 Château Valandraud is a deep purple-hued beauty offering up a kaleidoscope-like bouquet of black and blue fruits, scorched earth, chocolate, gravelly earth, spicy oak, and sappy flowers. Deep, rich, full-bodied, and wonderfully concentrated, it has insane purity of fruit, brilliant tannins, a stacked mid-palate, and just has everything in the right places. It's up with the top wines of the vintage and a tour de force that readers should snatch up. It shows a very different style than the sexier 2018, but it's every bit as good. It needs 4-5 years of bottle age and will evolve for 2-3 decades.Inc. TAX€1,729.52 -

Few beverages showcase the alchemy of wine-making as vividly as the Vieux Chevrol 2019. Crafted in the clay and limestone terrain of Lalande de Pomerol, this Bordeaux wine is a testament to the beauty of intricate subtlety and refined richness. Vieux Chevrol has been keeping the tradition of wine-making alive since the 19th century. Following a philosophy of minimal intervention, the skilled artisans here have managed to harmoniously blend 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon to create the Vieux Chevrol 2019.
Each sip unfolds a complex symphony of ripe red and black fruit paired with refined notes of spice. The Vieux Chevrol 2019 possesses a lush texture, marked by structured tannins and a lengthy finish. A noteworthy vintage, it perfectly encapsulates the essence of Vieux Chevrol’s historical viticultural practices and relentless passion for quality. Elegant and rewarding, Vieux Chevrol 2019 truly is a wine for the discerning palate.
