Jeb Dunnuck (95)A gem that readers should snatch up is unquestionably the 2017 Domaine De Chevalier, which is based on 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot that spent 18 months in just 35% new French oak. This deeply colored effort offers classic blackberry and blackcurrant fruits as well as medium to full body, complex notes of tobacco, gravelly earth, and chocolate, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. This is a classy, flawlessly balanced 2017 that offers up pleasure even today, yet it will keep for 30+ years. Having just had the good fortune to drink a bottle of the 1920, now at 100 years after the vintage, the longevity of this cuvee should not be underestimated. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91+)The 2017 Domaine de l'A is a gorgeous, but also embryonic wine from Stéphane and Christiane Derenoncourt. I have seen Domaine de l'A blossom with time, but it is also a wine that requires a bit of patience. I suspect that will be the case here as well. Time in the glass brings out striking purity in the wine's dark, layered fruit, and yet the best is clearly yet to come. The 2017 was vinified and aged in French oak, about 40% new. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)The 2017 du Tertre is a very pretty wine. Succulent red cherry, dried flowers, mint, blood orange and spice notes meld together in a pliant, mid-weight Margaux that will drink well right out of the gate. This is an especially elegant vintage for a property that often leans towards a wilder style. The 2017 is one of the prettiest recent Tertres I can remember tasting. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94+)One of the riper, more powerful wines in the vintage, the 2017 Enclos Tourmaline boasts a deep purple color as well as a monster bouquet of blackberries, blueberries, plums, roasted herbs, and candied violets. Structured, tannic, full-bodied, and in need of a solid 4-5 years (or more) of bottle age, it should be one of the longer-lived wines in the vintage from Pomerol. This cuvee comes from a miniscule one-hectare plot, just beside Chateau Clinet, that prior to 2012 belonged to Chateau La Patache. It was purchased in 2012 by Hong Kong financer Peter Kwok and it’s been up with the top wines of the vintage ever since. The wine is always 100% Merlot, aged 20 months all in new barrels, and it hit 14.5% natural alcohol. There are a tiny 2,000 bottles produced. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (87)The 2017 Fourcas Hosten is admittedly a bit of a comedown after the high point of the previous vintage. This is much more introverted and earthy on the nose, missing the fruité of the 2016. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannins and modest depth, but as before, I still find the finish rather dry. |

Richly layered and boasting the allure of a fine white Bordeaux, the Fourcas Hosten Blanc 2017 encapsulates the quintessence of French winemaking heritage. Produced by Château Fourcas Hosten, a revered vineyard in the heart of Listrac-Médoc, this remarkable vintage reflects its history and distinguished terroir. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, it's aged delicately in French oak barrels, resonating a well-rounded complexity. An expressive bouquet of ripe citrus fruits, fresh herbs and a sea-salt undertone lend to its charm, while a nuanced palate of bright, crisp acidity and buttery smoothness elevate its refined finish. All these gustatory elements are harmoniously integrated to exemplify the charisma of Fourcas Hosten Blanc 2017, making it highly sought-after by fine wine enthusiasts globally. Exemplary on its own or as an augmenter of a culinary journey, this vino truly presents an authentic taste of Bordeaux's leisured elegance at its best. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)The 2017 Fonplégade is classy, polished and simply impeccable in its balance. The Fonplégade is not a huge wine, but it has really gained in finesse over the course of its aging. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, blood orange, mint and cinnamon add character to this racy, silky, exceptionally polished Saint-Émilion. Floral overtones add brightness to the finish. |

Jeb Dunnuck (90-92)Made from 93% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Château Fonroque has a beautifully complex nose of Christmas spice, fruit cake, sweet oak, and beautifully ripe red and black fruits. With medium to full-bodied richness, a rounded, seductive texture, and sweet tannin, it's an impressive 2017 that should easily end up being an outstanding wine. |
