Margaux, the largest AOC in Médoc, is a significant wine appellation in Bordeaux with 20 Cru Classé properties from the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, more than any other Left Bank AOCs. The region is home to the world-renowned Château Margaux, along with other blue-chip wineries like Château Palmer and Château Rauzan Ségla. Margaux's soils have a high gravel content, offering excellent drainage and low nutrient levels compared to Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe. A powerful, dense wine, the 2015 is going to need a number of years before it is close to being ready to drink. I was quite impressed with d'Issan both times I tasted it.
