Jeb Dunnuck (92)Red and black fruits, spicy wood, tobacco, and hints of chocolate all emerge from the 2022 Château Boutisse, a charming, medium to full-bodied, plush, sexy Saint-Emilion. It's already hard to resist, yet this will drink nicely over the coming 15 years or more if well stored. The blend is 92% Merlot, 3% each of Cabernet Franc and Carménère, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, all aged 16 months in 30% new barrels. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2015 Boyd-Cantenac offers attractive raspberry and wild strawberry on the nose, the oak nicely integrated and hints of rose petal emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and punchy red berry fruit laced with brown spices and graphite, leading to a cohesive finish with good density and length. One of the hidden gems from the appellation this year. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2017 Boyd-Cantenac is noticeably deep in colour. It has a very intense bouquet with baked black cherries mixed with iodine and light violet aromas, becoming more floral with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, but clearly much more backward than its peers with a strong Pauillac-inspired, graphite finish. A really interesting Margaux that I am fascinated to see evolve. |

Decanter (95)Dark and concentrated nose, smells ripe and heady. This has an excellent structure, right from the off you can feel and taste the density of fruit but it's so well handled and well proportioned - everything in balance. It's a rich style, full on the palate with a cooling menthol aspect to it but it has nice spicy edges and bright acidity propelling it forward. The texture stands out, smooth but present tannins giving a mouthfeel that is so appealing. One I really wanted another glass of, but it will be even better with a few more years ageing. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2022 Boyd-Cantenac has a very attractive nose: clean and pure black fruit, crushed stone and light graphite scents percolating through with time. Great definition. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Good depth, quite sapid in the mouth, though it cuts away swiftly on the finish. Otherwise, this is a perfectly decent Margaux that deserves two or three years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (90)The 2023 Boyd-Cantenac has quite a concentrated nose, blackberry, melted tar and light gravely scents, just missing the delineation of its peers at the moment. The palate is soft and rounded on the entry. Decent weight, a little oaky, though I am seeking more complexity and terroir expression to come through on the finish that, again, is just a bit softish. Not bad at all, though I would just need to see more grip and backbone. |
