Wine Advocate (91)Lime, apple, and grapefruit with a strong influence of their skins and pips renders Keller's 2011 Westhofener Morstein Riesling Grosses Gewachs a remarkably pithy and piquant mouthful. Density and sheer persistence this also has in spades - it's almost muscle-bound - but I'll be very interested to see whether it picks up refinement, differentiation and, for want of a better word (one Keller himself favors), elegance over the course of coming decade. There is an austerely stony undertone to this entire performance; and one that didn't dissipate in a bottle that had been opened for a day. (Incidentally, this is the first vintage of Morstein to be supplemented by a portion of sixty-year-old vines that Keller recently acquired and grafted over to Riesling.) |

Vinous (93)Piquancy of apple pip, peach kernel and walnut are already signaled in the penetratingly high-toned nose, and when allied to chalky, stony, iodine notes make for a pithy, austere sort of palate concentration. There is an expansively mouthfilling as well as palpably extract-rich impression but at the same time generous juiciness of lemon and grapefruit, apple and white peach, plus remarkable lift and animation that follow into a vibrantly sustained, focused finish. I have the impression of looking at Keller’s blueprint for what this wine is intended to become, but the blueprint itself is mighty impressive. |

Bardstown Bourbon Company (BBC) is a relatively new distillery, founded only in 2016, but it has already built a huge reputation in fine Bourbon circles. With global demand for Bourbon on the rise, aged spirits are in short supply, making private barrel purchases a valuable collection. A touch of malted barley adds complexity with subtle hints of nuts and smoke. |

Wine Advocate (95)This is my favorite among the four Syrahs presented by Richard Kershaw. The 2019 Groenland Bokkeveld Shale SH 9c Deconstructed Syrah has an especially bright core of red and purple fruits that are framed by fragrant tones of heritage rose, blue flower and toasted redwood or Swedish sauna. There is an ashy component and a metallic dusting, but the wine is tight and nicely structured throughout. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)From east-facing sandstone soils, the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc Block 382 has an intense nose with bell pepper, flint and quite forward pyrazine scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant, slightly reductive, with that pyrazine element politely loitering off stage. Nice weight and density, this is a great Sauvignon Blanc ageing beautifully in bottle. |

Wine Advocate (96)The 2013 Vin de Constance Natural Sweet Wine was matured in 500-liter barrels for around 36 months. It has a beautiful bouquet with honey, quince, pressed yellow flowers and Mirabelle. It has wonderful definition and purity. The palate is very well balanced with a mellifluous texture and beautifully judged acidity as it just sashays along. It fans out on the finish with honey, quince, a touch of rhubarb and ginger, extraordinarily persistent in the mouth. Matthew Day, current winemaker, opined that he thought the 2012 would be the best ever, but the freshness might see it overtaken. This is awesome. |
