Valli
About Valli
Founded in 1998, Valli is the brain child of Grant Taylor, one of the pioneers that helped establish Central Otago as the respected wine region it is today.Ahead of his time in numerous different aspects, Taylor’s unrelenting focus on specific terroir was something new to Central Otago. Such a young region at the time, its fledgling winemakers were only beginning to learn their craft when Valli was mastering the subregional nuances from across the different vineyards and valleys on the South Island.
Described by Bob Campbell MW as one of New Zealand’s "most promising young winemakers", in 2015 former software saleswoman turned winemaker Jen Parr joined Valli. Oregon native Parr has rocketed the wines from this already excellent estate into the stratosphere, forming one of New Zealand’s great wine partnerships alongside founder Grant Taylor. This culminated in her winning Gourmet Wine Traveller's 'Winemaker of the Year' in 2020.
