De Trafford
The De Trafford wine estate is the source for some of South Africa's most well-made wines. Quality here is driven by the experimental attitude of trained architect-turned-winemaker David Trafford. The wine-making style is based entirely upon the potential of the vine and the fruit itself. It has a very attractive bouquet of blackberry, blueberry, crushed violet and vanilla scents that are pure and opulent. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, and quite harmonious and smooth, delivering good density while not compromising on fruit. This is still quite backward and deserves another couple of years in bottle, but there is good potential here. |
