Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet
About Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet
Even though they have been making wine since the 17th century, Benoit’s father Jean-Claude did not allow visits by critics so these wines slipped off the press radar.
Since Jean-Claude’s sons, Benoit and Jean-Baptiste, have taken over the helm, they have injected new life into the Domaine with their new cellars and cuverie. The brothers use less oak allowing their wines to express the fruit from their vineyards as fully as possible.

Vinous (94-96)
The 2021 Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru had quite a lot of reduction on the nose when I tasted it at the Domaine. The palate is where the action is: intense citrus fruit, frangipane, lemongrass and crushed stone, gaining weight towards the finish with wonderful persistency. This seems to grow in the glass.
