    De Montille

Domaine de Montille in the Cote de Beaune was developed by Hubert de Montille in 1951. His family have aristocratic roots in the region’s land since the 17th century. Now run by his son, Etienne, they use traditional wine making techniques to produce pure elegant Burgundy that generally requires five years bottle ageing.

    • De Montille Beaune 1er Cru Les Greves 2017 (12x75cl)

      Vinous (91-93)

The 2017 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru has a harmonious bouquet with ample ripe Morello cherry, strawberry and raspberry preserve aromas, a hint of vanilla in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a little more compact than the Les Perrières and with more girth towards the grippy finish. As such, give this more bottle age because it is a fine Beaune Grèves.

    • De Montille Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrieres 2017 (12x75cl)

      Vinous (91-93)

(25% new oak): Bright yellow. A touch of reduction but still a captivating fruitiness to the aromas and flavors of lemon, lime and crushed stone. Rich, savory, concentrated wine with a restrained sweetness and enlivening underlying minerality. More tactile, pliant and deep than the Poruzots. This silky, edge-free wine finishes classically dry and long, with lovely lemony lift and grip.

    • De Montille Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Thorey 2017 (12x75cl)

      Vinous (92-94)

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Thorey 1er Cru has two-thirds whole cluster fruit and matures in 40% new oak. It has a refined and quite backward bouquet that demands encouragement, light sous-bois and crushed limestone scents percolating through the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit. A firm grip in the mouth with a light oyster shell influence defining what is a very detailed and persistent finish. Very good potential here - superb.

    • De Montille Volnay 1er Cru Les Taillepieds 2017 (12x75cl)

      Vinous (92-94)

The 2017 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru, 100% whole clusters, has an outstanding bouquet with complex raspberry, wild strawberry and crushed stone aromas - all very engaging and sophisticated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, plenty of red fruit here, tightening up towards quite a structured and backward finish. It deserves several years in bottle but it should turn out a fine Taillepieds (like the 1985 recently tasted.)
