Cheysson

This small winery situated in the Cru of Chiroubles is a part of the new wave of Beaujolais wine-making which aims to display the full potential of both the Gamay grape and the vineyards where it grows. As a result these wines are less reminiscent of the clumsy, fruity Beaujolais of twenty years ago, and more in line with the light reds of the Cote de Beaune.

Vinous (90) Brilliant ruby-red. Intensely perfumed aromas of black raspberry, anise, candied lavender and minerals, with a subtle peppery quality emerging with aeration. Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors given spine by tangy acidity. Clings with very good tenacity and focus, leaving a note of white pepper behind.
