This is a lovely wine, wafting from the glass with a classy bouquet of red cherries, cassis, grilled meat and rich soil, subtly framed by a judicious touch of recently used oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a deep core of ripe but savory fruit, fine-grained structuring tannins and a long, sapid finish, with juicy balancing acids. The substance that is this domaine's calling card is certainly present, and it will undoubtedly improve with five to ten years of bottle age—at maturity, I suspect it will embarrass many village wines.
