Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux
Established in 1858, Arnoux-Lachaux is a family affair. Pascal Lachaux (son-in-law of the late Robert Arnoux) is the fifth generation making wine at this Domaine, which has significant grand Cru holdings. he is now working in the winery with his son Charles who has joined him after working in wine regions in New Zealand, South Africa and Oregon.
The Domaine’s wine has always been good but its quality and reputation are sharply rising. A new winery, cellar upgrade and acquisition of a parcel of the Grand Cru Latricieres Chambertin have all contributed.

(100% vendange entier; 80% new oak; from a healthy crop of 42 hectoliters per hectare):Bright red-ruby. A touch of reduction mostly dissipated to reveal classic Suchots scents of black raspberry, Oriental spices, flowers and fresh herbs, plus an intriguing note of paprika. Wonderfully silky, plush, generous wine with sneaky inner-mouth energy. The wine's sweet oak component will need a few years to harmonize with its fruits and flowers. Finishes with terrific length and substantial ripe tannins. This should ultimately make a wonderfully complete Burgundy.Inc. TAX€6,280.38 -

(70% vendange entier; 15% new oak; tasted from tank): Healthy dark red. Enticing aromas of raspberry, spices, bitter chocolate and licorice. Wonderfully dense but juicy too, with its black fruit and mint flavors lifted by a floral element. Voluminous, classy, perfumed and very long, with the tannins barely noticeable today. Containing 70% whole bunches, the 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village is a blend of Les Communes, Les Saules and Bossières. It has a very floral bouquet, with wilted rose petals infusing the brambly red fruit, and hints of lavender tucked in just beneath. The medium-bodied palate is strict and linear, offering quite firm tannin and perhaps just requiring a little more finesse toward the finish at the moment. This is quite an uncompromising Village Cru, but intellectually it is very satisfying.Inc. TAX€3,868.38 -

Plush in texture but more restrained than the wines that were already in tank. The fruit is here a bit more medicinal and minty and less sweet at this stage.
