  • Christophe Roumier Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (94-96)

The 2018 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru has one of my favorite bouquets from Roumier this year, delivering heavenly scents of blueberry, violets and incense, all exquisitely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannin, and quite precise and linear. Not a powerful or voluminous Ruchottes, but full of tension and mineralité on the finish. Excellent and cerebral.

    Vinous (96-98)

The 2019 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is matured in one-third new oak (two of the total six). It has a very mineral-driven bouquet compared to the Charmes-Chambertin, tightly wound at first but opening with gusto, revealing wet limestone and almost flinty aromas. The palate is beautifully balanced with supple tannins, heightened mineralité compared to the Charmes and brilliant, spine-tingling tension on the finish. A fabulous, quite cerebral Ruchottes from Christophe Roumier.

  • Claude Dugat Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (93-95)

The 2017 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a broody, introspective bouquet that has a little more horsepower compared to the Charmes-Chambertin, plus the fruit is slightly darker. The palate is well balanced, absorbing the new oak with style, quite dense and muscular towards the finish but retaining a sense of elegance and poise. I would give this several years in bottle but it already suggests to be the Grand Cru that might have the most longevity from the domaine.

  • Claude Dugat Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (96-98)

The 2018 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very elegant bouquet that is more poised and detailed than the Charmes-Chambertin, offering black cherries, raspberry and ground gravelly scents; floral notes emerge with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, gorgeous blueberry and strawberry fruit and a silky-smooth, sensual finish that is utterly refined. Stunning.
  • Claude Dugat Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (96)

The 2020 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru could well turn out to be Dugat's finest cuvée this vintage. The nose rivets your feet to the spot with its intense oyster shell tinged red fruit that feels more composed compared to the Charmes. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, tensile and brimming with energy. There is a discrete crescendo towards its harmonious, transparent and lingering finish that you just don't want to end. Quite brilliant.

  • Claude Dugat Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2006 (6x75cl)

Full red-ruby. Sexy aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, minerals and violet. Wonderfully precise and vibrant, with terrific cut to its intense flavors of dark berries and violet. But this infant is still youthfully tight and bound-up. A bit rounder on the back end, finishing with excellent grip and length and a lingering hint of licorice.

  • Claude Dugat Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2011 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2011 Charmes-Chambertin is pure pleasure. Black cherries, plums, cloves, violets and new leather are all woven together in a fabric of notable class. Here it is the wine's extraordinary textural finesse and overall harmony that take over all of the senses. There is so much to like here, including the wine's generous, inviting personality. The Charmes has really come on strong over the last year.
  • Claude Dugat Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2012 (12x75cl)

    Tim Atkin MW (95)

A typically dark, concentrated wine from this impressive Gevrey domaine (sulphur levels are kept high to keep oxygen at bay) made in a serious, powerful, ageworthy style. Theres no concession to immediate flavours here. Bold and textured with firm tannins, lots of new oak and crunchy, pomegranate-like acidity.

  • Claude Dugat Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 (1x75cl)

The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru demands a little coaxing from the glass, with dark cherries, raspberry preserve and briary aromas, gradually unfurling but never fully letting go like the Chapelle-Chambertin. The palate is very well structured with a firm backbone, quite Mazoyères-like in style, the mineralité flooding out towards the second half that displays an insistent grip and impressive length. Excellent.

Burgundy is Pinot Noir’s spiritual home, and nowhere in the world better illustrates terroir than here. Two vineyards side by side result in wines with subtle yet intricate differences in structure and aromatic profile – and often not so subtle differences in price.
