Vinous - Antonio Galloni (89-91)The 2013 La Croix Saint Georges has been gorgeous on the three times I have tasted it thus far. Impeccable and silky on the palate, the 2013 is a wine of nuance and balance. Dark red/black fruit, smoke, tobacco and savory herbs are some of the many nuances that emerge from a wine that offers quite a bit of complexity in the glass. Cinnamon, mint and cedar wrap around the juicy finish. Today, the oak is a bit pronounced, but that is a relatively small critique for a wine that delivers so much pleasure. |

The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, well-judged acidity and a harmonious, elegant finish. Winemaker Jean-Philippe Janoueix usually goes from a more bullish style of Pomerol. This is more refined and in a way, classier. It will also be one of Pomerol's more approachable wines but one that still deserves respect. |
