Wine Advocate (95)Another inky, opaque, purple-colored wine with beautiful blackcurrant, black raspberry, licorice and earthy undertones, this full-bodied, opulent, dense, rich 2012 (90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 14.3% alcohol) is a tour de force in this vintage. This over-achieving estate has hit a home run, which is especially impressive in 2012. This wine ideally needs several years of bottle age and should drink well for 15 or more years. |

The Wine Cellar Insider (93)Chocolate and black raspberry notes in the nose pair well with the plush, soft, fresh black cherries on the palate. This wine is smooth with freshness in the fruit. From a blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is the first vintage to include Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. The wine reached 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.65. 91-93 Pts |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91-93)The 2021 Clos Floridene has a perfumed, incense-tinged bouquet of light tobacco and undergrowth aromas and decent fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, pretty red fruit and a beautifully balanced, cohesive finish. This is how to do 2021 without having to push too hard. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 1995 Clos Fourtet is a vintage that, to my surprise, I have not tasted before. It has a delightful bouquet, mature yet well defined, with tobacco-infused red berry fruit and light forest floor aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a gutsy opening and fine tannins, with blackberry and wild strawberry fruit. Maybe a little Left Bank in style, thanks to the influence of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc (15% of the blend). Quite youthful, this is a Clos Fourtet that deserves a round of applause. Tasted at the 1995 Bordeaux off-line at Piccolino in London. |

Wine Advocate (89)On one of the three occasions I tasted the 1996 Clos Fourtet from bottle I rated it outstanding (90 points). The color is a saturated dark ruby. The nose offers up sweet black raspberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with toasty oak and floral scents. It is fleshy, surprisingly expansive and forward for a 1996, with low acidity, and a long, multilayered, fruit-driven finish. The tannin is ripe, and thus the fruit comes forward and the wine is seductive and charming. This wine possesses the weight, richness, and extract to last for 15-20 years, but it should be drinkable early. I would not be surprised for readers to feel my score is too conservative based on how well this wine is showing. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2018. |

Jeb Dunnuck (95)Deep garnet-hued with just a hint of amber creeping in, the 2000 Clos Fourtet is the last vintage produced under the Lorton family before the Cuvelier family's arrival in 2001. It has a gorgeous nose of ripe red and black cherries and assorted darker fruits intermixed with smoky tobacco and truffly earth. On the palate, it's rich and medium to full-bodied, with a layered, expansive mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a great finish. I love it today, yet it will keep for another 15-20 years. Drink 2026-2046. |

Wine Advocate (98)This magnificent wine, which is just beginning to come into full maturity, boasts an inky/purple color as well as copious notes of blackberries, licorice, violets, and a striking chalky minerality. Full-bodied, voluptuously textured and stunningly pure, this great Bordeaux is one of the vintage’s superstars. The finish lasts 40-45 seconds in this majestic, multidimensional St. Emilion. It should continue to drink well for 10-15 years, but why wait? |
