  • De Fieuzal 2022 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (96)

The 2022 de Fieuzal meets all expectations, unfurling with a perfumed bouquet of violet, iris, dark wild berries and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and layered, it gains depth with the élevage, revealing a fleshy core of fruit and an enrobing mid-palate framed by velvety, sweet tannins. Finishing long, ethereal and fresh, this blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot is one of my favorite wines in Pessac-Léognan. It will offer a broad drinking window and should improve with time in the cellar.

The 2020 de Pressac is a wine of real charm and seduction. Bright floral and citrus notes drive a core of sweet red cherry fruit. Chalk, mint, white pepper, smoke and dried herbs lend notable aromatic complexity. As always, the blend includes Cabernet Franc plus drops of Malbec and Carménère, which lends quite a bit of nuance. The 2020 is an especially elegant Pressac. In my view, Pressac remains one of the most criminally underrated wines in all of Saint-Émilion. On the other hand, that makes it a screaming value.

Black cherries, red plums, spicy oak, and savory herb notes all emerge from the 2022 Château De Pressac, another ripe, medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated 2022 in the vintage that brings ample mid-palate depth, building yet ripe tannins, and outstanding length. Despite all its richness and depth, it holds onto a wonderful sense of freshness and minerality, and I suspect this will evolve gracefully for 20+ years in cold cellars. It needs an hour in a decanter if drinking anytime soon.

Château Desmirail looks to have turned out a sensational wine in the vintage, and their 2017 offers a forward, already irresistible style as well as loads of spicy red and black fruits, incense and spice aromas, and flavors. I love its purity of fruit, it has medium-bodied richness, and ripe tannin. Drink it on release and over the following 10-15 years.
  • Desmirail 2018 (6x150cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (93)

The 2018 Desmirail impressed out of barrel. Now bottled, it still represents one of the best vintages that I have tasted from this Margaux estate. Gorgeous blackberry and raspberry scents feature on the nose, the new oak supportive and beautifully enmeshed. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannins, a keen line of acidity and a chalky-textured finish that is extremely well focused. This is a great success for Denis Lurton and his team. The 2019 de Pressac is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. A complex, mesmerizing wine, Pressac offers up an exotic mélange of black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and menthol. All the elements are so well balanced. Espresso,, lavender, dried rose petal and cedar linger on the complex, beautifully delineated finish. The 2019 is seriously impressive. It's as simple as that.

  • De Pressac 2020 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

The 2020 de Pressac is a wine of real charm and seduction. Bright floral and citrus notes drive a core of sweet red cherry fruit. Chalk, mint, white pepper, smoke and dried herbs lend notable aromatic complexity. As always, the blend includes Cabernet Franc plus drops of Malbec and Carménère, which lends quite a bit of nuance. The 2020 is an especially elegant Pressac. In my view, Pressac remains one of the most criminally underrated wines in all of Saint-Émilion. On the other hand, that makes it a screaming value.

  • De Pressac 2021 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92-94)

The 2021 de Pressac is one the under the radar gems in Saint-Émilion. Bright red/purplish fruit, rose petal, lavender, spice, mocha and new leather are all kicked up in a Saint-Émilion that balances fruit richness with energy. The 2021 is naturally not as deep or opulent as some recent vintages, but it nevertheless has plenty of complexity and character, not to mention the stylish personality that makes it one of the most distinctive wines in all of Bordeaux. Tasted three times.

  • De Pressac 2022 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (93)

Black cherries, red plums, spicy oak, and savory herb notes all emerge from the 2022 Château De Pressac, another ripe, medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated 2022 in the vintage that brings ample mid-palate depth, building yet ripe tannins, and outstanding length. Despite all its richness and depth, it holds onto a wonderful sense of freshness and minerality, and I suspect this will evolve gracefully for 20+ years in cold cellars. It needs an hour in a decanter if drinking anytime soon.

  • Desmirail 2017 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2017

    Jeb Dunnuck (90-93)

Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Bordeaux's relatively diverse weather, particularly its rainfall, means that vintage variation can be quite broad between some years. However advances in wine making techniques, technology and investment has meant that many chateaux are still able to create very good wines in "lesser vintages". From the best vintages wines are made that are clambered for all over the world and mature excellently for many years. This is a selection of some of our favourite vintages from Bordeaux over the last few decades, as well some more recent ones.
