Vinous - Antonio Galloni (86-88)The 2013 Reserve de La Comtesse is soft, fruity and well-suited to near-term drinking. Dark raspberries, wild flowers and mint are all nicely delineated in the glass. The 2013 shows lovely up-front fruit, with perhaps a bit less mid-palate to fill out the frame, which in turn exposes the slightly under ripe tannins. Dried flowers, crushed raspberries and a gentle hint of spice linger on the close. The blend is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot. Tasted twice. |

Bordeaux has some of the most premium wines in the world with its famous First Growths heralded as far back as Jefferson. However it must be noted that Bordeaux also offers an excellent range, with plenty of great value wines available. Bordeaux has 54 different appellations with varying soil types that give different styles. It has thousands of chateaux, from the small and humble to the overwhelmingly magnificent.
