Crème de cassis blue fruits, spring flowers, lead pencil, and violets all define the bouquet, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a layered, seamlessly textured, flawlessly balanced profile. While it shows the ripe, pure, already accessible style of the vintage, I wouldn't be surprised to see this close down over the coming 7-8 years, given its density and structure, and it's not going to hit its prime drinking window until 15-20 years after the vintage. It should be one of those wines that evolve gracefully over the following 50-75 years. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (89-91)I expressed reservations towards Pierre Lurton's 2019 Marjosse in my en primeur report earlier this year and as a result, a second sample was shipped to me. This was so much better. The aromatics are far more controlled and focused with the same black cherries and boysenberry without the shroud of alcohol. The palate is opulent and generous, but much more detailed compared to the first sample and demonstrating much more purity on the finish. This is much more in line with my expectations and I am happy to upgrade my score. |

This is exactly what you look for in a smaller chateaux in a vintage like 2022 - it's easy to drink with plenty of personality. 20% barrels for ageing, the rest in vat. Frost at the beginning of April, reduced the quantity and meant they focused a little more on Merlot this year, but there is still black pepper and spiced violet notes from the old Malbec.
