James Suckling (98-99)This has a firm, seamless and velvety tannin structure, accompanying a deep core of dark plum fruit, peach stones, chocolate and mahogany. Layered and caressing. Supple, yet full and powerful. Silky and smooth at the end. It shows real structure for the vintage and will age really well. 100% merlot. |

James Suckling (99-100)A classical Lafite that reminds me of something like the 1986, with its blackcurrant and tobacco character with cedar and hazelnut, but it's so today with its purity and precision. It's really about being Lafite here. Terroir gives great elegance with strength. |

James Suckling (99-100)Shows the exotic nature of Le Pin with blackberries, milk chocolate and hints of spices, as well as coffee beans from the ripe seeds in the grapes. It's medium-bodied with focused and creamy tannins. Also plenty of nectarine and clementine character. This is so classic Le Pin at the finish. It lasts for minutes in your mouth. Silky and flavorful. 100% merlot magic. |

Wine Advocate (96)Take that quality and add additional layers of concentration, power, extract and wood, and you have the 2009 La Plus de La Fleur de Bouard. Only about 500 cases of this 100% Merlot are made. With notes of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with graphite and spring flowers, this wine is absolutely massive and not for everybody, but it is an example of what a conscientious and driven producer pushing the envelope can do in a satellite appellation such as Lalande de Pomerol. Moreover, I suspect it will last for at least two decades. |

Jeb Dunnuck (96)Even more impressive, the 100% Merlot 2015 La Fleur De Bouard Le Plus is a vineyard/parcel selection from clay and limestone soils that was brought up all in new oak. This sensational, full-bodied, viscous 2015 boasts a deep purple color, awesome notes of cassis and black currant fruits, lots of truffle, smoke herbs and meatiness, sweet tannin, and most of its oak covered by a wealth of fruit. It’s a gorgeous wine and I suspect one of the best efforts out there from this appellation. Drink it anytime over the coming two decades. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-93)The 2016 Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard is every bit as promising as it has always been. Still in barrel, La Fleur possesses tremendous richness and pure power. Dark red cherry, plum, chocolate, torrefaction, spice and menthol all develop in the glass. I am not sure about the extended barrel aging for Le Plus, but time will ultimately be the judge of that. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92-94)The 2020 Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard is one of the best editions of this cuvée I have tasted. I am not sure about the extended élevage in barrel, but there is no denying the beauty and purity of the fruit. Black cherry, menthol, licorice, spice and chocolate build effortlessly in the glass. The 2020 is hugely promising. |
