Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (100)Muscular, intense, maintains the estate signature as do its fellow Pauillac First Growths Mouton and Lafite. Less generous perhaps at Latour, you feel the walls and floor, pulsating, intense and with intent. Still a baby, but as it opens there are cutaways of fragrant roses and fennel, alongside wild blackberry, hawthorn, blackcurrant, cola, juicy pomegranate, dried cranberry, cocoa bean, cold ash and a ton of bitter black chocolate. Love it. Hélène Genin technical director, Eric Boissenot consultant, and at this point Latour was farming entirely organically and biodynamically, with organic certification coming in 2018. 100% new oak for ageing. |

Wine Advocate (89)This is a sexy, soft, round wine with notes of sweet red and black fruits intermixed with hints of truffle, tobacco leaf, and spice. Medium to full-bodied with sweet fruit and a savory mouthfeel in an up-front, forward style, this wine needs 2-3 years of cellaring and should drink up to 15 years or more. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-93)The 2013 Latour a Pomerol is one of the fleshier wines of the vintage. Smoke, tobacco, incense and dark red/black stone fruits all meld together in a wine of distinction and personality. I won't at all be surprised if the Latour a Pomerol ends up being one of the highlights of the vintage. Today it is naturally quite young, but it is impressive just the same. There is plenty to look forward to here. |
