The 2016 Le Boscq, owned by Vignobles Dourthe, is a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot and was picked 29 September until 20 October. This represents a move towards Cabernet Sauvignon and away from Merlot in the final blend. It has a very ripe, opulent bouquet that does not quite convey its terroir with the same aplomb as say, the Phelan-Ségur. It translates more of the winemaking than the terroir. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, crisp acidity and quite an elegant finish. It is in the second half of this wine that the quality of the vintage shows through. Hopefully the aromatics will gain more composure and it will live up to the finish it currently displays. One to watch.Inc. TAX€411.86 -

Vinous - Neal Martin (90)
The 2020 Le Boscq still has that expressive, overtly floral bouquet with bunches of pressed violet infusing the black cherry and boysenberry fruit. Quite powerful and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, touches of black olive, fine depth with a slightly chewy finish that would benefit from a little more delineation and finesse. But I like this sturdy Saint-Estèphe and it should cellar well for a decade. In Bond€246.00 -

The 2021 Le Boscq is fabulous. Rich, heady and super-expressive, the 2021 offers exquisite aromatic intensity allied to deep, pliant fruit, all in an earthy/savory style that captures the essence of Saint-Estèphe. Best of all, Le Boscq should be a screaming value. In Bond€148.00 -

A classic Saint-Estèphe, the 2022 Château Le Boscq reveals darker fruits, leafy herbs, tobacco, and damp earth. Medium to full-bodied, it has pure, fine tannins, terrific balance, and a rounded, supple mouthfeel. Aged in oak barrels, this should drink well for 15+ years. In Bond€135.00 -

Dark ruby/purple, with sweet black cherry and blackcurrant fruits as well as some dusty earthiness, this medium-bodied wine displays light to moderate tannin. Drink it over the next 5-8 years. In Bond€364.00 -

92-94 Barrel sample. A wine obviously for aging, with its severe tannins and very mineral character. It is dark, brooding, solidly ripe and powerful, with a great waft of final juiciness. In Bond€371.00 -
(12x75cl) 2010Wine Enthusiast (93)
92-94 Big and tannic, very firm and tough. Yet all the fruit is there, offering great potential. There is a ripe, juicy aftertaste. Under the same ownership as Château Léoville-Poyferré in Saint-Julien.In Bond€390.00 -

The 2014 Le Crock is soft, voluptuous and quite expressive, with the fruit pushed forward and silky tannins to round things out. Today, the flavors are quite primary, but it is the wine's textural harmony and overall balance that stand out most. Hints of plum, crème de cassis, cloves and new leather meld into the inviting finish. Even with all of its richness, the 2014 Le Crock preserves lovely freshness and perfume. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. In Bond€357.00 -
(12x75cl) 2016Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)
The 2016 Le Crock is a very pretty, fruity wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Bright red cherry and plum fruits are nicely pushed forward in this mid-weight, gracious Saint-Estèphe. All the elements are very nicely balanced. Floral overtones add to the wine's considerable appeal. In 2016, Le Crock is pliant and supple, both of which make it an absolute joy to drink now and over the next handful of years. In Bond€414.00
