This is a very refined, polished Cos with superb finesse and length. Medium-to full-bodied, very fine and persistent. Really long with beautiful tannins. Rich, but fresh and linear. Yet, the alcohol is around 13.5%. 62% cabernet and 38% merlot.Inc. TAX€785.28 -

This vintage, which can be overly straight and austere, benefits from the house style of Cos, where they are happy to add a twist of gourmet glamour, and I am seriously impressed with this wine. It showcases the successful sides of a cool vintage in spades, with bitter black chocolate, cool blue fruits, lemongrass and turmeric and black pepper spices. 55% new oak. 3.79ph. 53% of overall production is for the 1st wine, the rest in Pagodes. Easily one of the wines of the vintage.Inc. TAX€941.52 -

Looking at the 2022 Château Cos D'Estournel, this awesome Saint-Estèphe checks in as a normal blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that spent 18 months in 50% new oak. Remarkably concentrated yet with a graceful elegance, it has sensational cassis, graphite, spring flowers, and subtle tobacco-driven aromatics, full-bodied richness, a deeply layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and a monumental finish. Hitting 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.79, it's as good a Cos d'Estournel as has ever been made. It actually has ample upfront appeal yet won't hit the early stages of its prime drinking window for another decade, and it will have 50-75 years of overall longevity.Inc. TAX€3,513.34 -

Bernard Audoy usually makes a gracious, middleweight wine at his property across from Cos d'Estournel, at the southern border of St-Estèphe. This 2005 is more powerful, with jasmine and bergamot scents buzzing over serious tannins. The fruit is completely hidden, as black as the tannins that coat the mouth in mineral flavors, neither ripping nor softened up. Sleek and expansive, this is set to age for ten years or more.Inc. Inky violet. Seductive spice-and floral-accented blackberry and dark plum aromas, plus a gentle hint of cured tobacco. Reasonably ripe and surprisingly plush for the vintage, with sweet dark berry flavors, gentle if youthfully chewy tannins and impressive sweetness on the moderately persistent finish. This seems built to withstand aging better than most other Bordeaux of 2013, but I'd still drink it up within ten years of its release for maximum enjoyment.Inc. TAX€214.54 -

The 2015 Cos Labory is powerful, dense and super-concentrated. Although the new oak remains prominent, the wine has really come together very nicely during its aging and is now much more harmonious than it was from barrel. The 2018 Cos Labory is fabulous. An extra kick of richness from the warm year and a bit more Petit Verdot than usual result in a Cos Labory that is wonderfully savory, powerful and layered. Black cherry, plum, cloves, chocolate and dried herbs build as this potent, exotically ripe Saint-Estèphe opens in the glass. Today, the 2018 is dark, brooding and in need of cellaring. The 2020 Cos Labory is bright and exuberant in the glass. The purity of the flavors is striking. It will be interesting to see if the tannins settle down a bit. (12x75cl) 2020Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91-93)
The 2020 Cos Labory is bright and exuberant in the glass. The purity of the flavors is striking. It will be interesting to see if the tannins settle down a bit. Today, they are pretty piercing in their intensity. Raspberry jam, game, iron, licorice, mint and sweet pipe tobacco lend energy and vibrancy throughout. Cos Labory is a touch austere, and yet it has plenty to offer. In Bond€309.00
