Vinous (89)Good full medium red. Complex nose combines red fruits, pepper, smoke and a hint of orange peel. Silky, suave and perfumed; not especially primary but quite stylish and pliant. Finishes with distinctly suaver tannins than the examples from Nuits-Saint-Georges and good aromatic lift. |

Impeccably superior and boldly expressive, the Les Angelots de Villemaurine 2015 is a supreme embodiment of the Saint-Émilion wine region in Bordeaux France. Produced by a small, elite property that stretches merely over 2.12 hectares, the vineyard's dedication to artisanal winemaking echoes in every sip of this wine. The soil, predominantly clay and limestone, nourishes the50-year-old Merlot vines, contributing to the wine's distinct Bold and concentrated character. The vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, followed by a maturation in French oak barrels for 18 months, perfection is undoubtedly achieved. The Les Angelots de Villemaurine 2015 shimmers with deep ruby hues, delivering powerful notes of red and black fruits, intertwined with subtle undertones of sweet spice and licorice. Its rich, velvety tannins gracefully melt away to reveal a well-structured, persistent finish; a wonderful testament to its Grand Cru Classé status. Experience the Les Angelots de Villemaurine 2015, and immerse yourself in an enthralled journey through a classic Bordeaux vintage masterpiece. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93)(from 80-year-old vines planted on thin clay soil over hard limestone): Full bright ruby. Medicinal black fruits and chocolate on the nose. Dense, plush and deep, with very ripe dark berry and chocolate flavors enlivened by chewy minerality. Can't quite match Le Carre for lift but this is every bit as concentrated and comes across as sweeter. Finishes with strong, building tannins and terrific length. |

Jeb Dunnuck (98-100)Even better and a monumental wine in the making, the profound 2010 Les Cailloux Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Centenaire (tasted just prior to bottling) smells of a Provencal street market and offers up gorgeous aromas kirsch, raspberry, dried flowers, spice-box, roasted meats, and licorice on the nose. Coming from a single plot of very old Grenache (there is a touch of Mourvedre in the blend) and aged all in tank, this exuberant, hedonistic-bent Châteauneuf-du-Pape is full-bodied on the palate and delivers a voluptuous, mouth filling texture, brilliant concentration, and a blockbuster finish. Eclipsing the ’07 and up there with the ’90 (I think even better), this is monumental stuff that every Châteauneuf-du-Pape lover needs to have in the cellar! |

Wine Advocate (93+)Made of 45% Cabernet Franc, 45% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet colored 2010 Les Carmes Haut-Brion gives up notes of baked blackberries, blackcurrants, black raspberries and cedar chest with hints of baking spices, black olives, pencil lead and Marmite toast. Full-bodied, the generously fruited palate has a solid backbone of grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting all that tightly-packed brawn, finishing with great length and purity. Still incredibly youthful, I suspect this wine has a lot more to give in the years to come! |

Wine Advocate (92)This tiny jewel of a property, situated close to La Mission-Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion, has turned out one of the stars of the 2011 vintage. A deep dark ruby/purple color is followed by hints of graphite, charcoal, creme de cassis and Christmas fruitcake. This medium-bodied Pessac-Leognan is gorgeously concentrated with impeccably well-integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol and oak. An authoritatively long finish adds to the class and nobility of this wine. Drink it over the next 15 years. |
