Vinous (92)The 2018 Chenin Blanc comes from seven vineyards, the vines planted between 1962 and 1982 (and therefore eligible for the “Old Vine Project”). It has a lovely bouquet of apricot blossom, white peach, pine nuts and orange pith, the latter becoming more pronounced with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a smooth, rounded texture. This is a slightly richer Chenin Blanc from Sadie, yet still very well balanced. Nashi pear and clementine notes appear toward the elegant, almost understated finish. Top-class. Just 5,000 bottles. |

Tim Atkin MW (94)This is "just" the basic Chenin Blanc from David and Nadia Sadie, but it's better than most wineries' single vineyard releases. Vinous (92)The 2018 Grenache includes 60% whole bunches and comes from two main sites, on iron and granite soils. It has a lovely, very pure bouquet of red cherries, crushed strawberry, pressed flowers and wild hedgerow, all extremely natural and well defined. The palate is fresh on the entry, offering plenty of crunchy fruit and oddly reminiscent of an artisan Beaujolais. The light but energetic, tensile finish has just enough dryness to encourage another sip. Very fine. |

Jancis Robinson (17)Very pale ruby indeed – an extremely distinctive pallor. Delicately sweet, fruity nose that would not be out of place in, say, Auxey-Duresses. Then a hint of gaminess and some light graininess that I associate with concrete. Wonderfully ethereal delicacy that positively dances on the palate. This seems absolutely ready now but has substance and persistence so should be no fly-by-night. Extremely playful, but be careful not to serve it with food that's too powerful. Not our merguez sausages planned for tonight, methinks. This would respond well to light chilling and shellfish or chicken. |

Vinous (90-92)Good dark red. Distinctly dark aromas of black fruits and violet. Brisk and penetrating, with a strong mineral spine accentuated by the use of stems. Vinous (91-93)(from 60-year-old vines): Bright ruby-red. Very ripe but cool aromas of black raspberry, spices, licorice and menthol. At once silky in texture and light on its feet, conveying lovely intensity and inner-mouth energy to its berry and violet flavors. Not yet particularly flesh--in fact, this is still youthfully imploded--but juicy and alive, finishing with serious but smooth tannins. A note of bitter blackberry stimulates the taste buds on the back end. |

Vinous (91-93)(this site was not frosted): Bright, dark red. Red cherry liqueur on the ripe nose, leavened by tart red berries and spices. Fat, plush and sweet; in a very supple style, with no shortage of concentration. Finishes rich, sweet, ripely tannic and very long, with palate-saturating fruit and late floral lift. |

Vinous (90+)(from Mazoyères-Chambertin; vinified with 80% whole clusters): Bright red. Reticent aromas of black cherry and licorice. Uncompromisingly dry on the palate but with noteworthy juicy intensity to the flavors of dark fruits and dried flowers. Not a particularly pliant or fleshy style--in fact a bit tough in the early going--but its rising perfume suggests that it will reward cellaring. Today the dusty tannins are accentuated by the influence of the stems, which limits the wine's sweetness. |

Vinous (92-95)(Duband pulled up a portion of these 90-year-old vines after the 2015 harvest for replanting): Dark red-ruby. Brooding aromas of dark fruits and licorice convey a medicinal quality. Then wonderfully creamy and mouthfilling, conveying outstanding depth and thickness to the flavors of black fruits and dark chocolate. This huge, chocolatey wine finishes with great rising length and cheek-coating solidity. In fact, this is rounder on the aftertaste than the Latricières, which Duband says is atypical. This wine, he added, is entirely from tiny berries and although it shows black fruits and big, ripe tannins, it's never exaggerated in alcoholic maturity and it maintains its freshness in bottle. |

Vinous (90-92)Good dark red. Distinctly dark aromas of black fruits and violet. Brisk and penetrating, with a strong mineral spine accentuated by the use of stems. This tactile, classically dry wine is juicier than the Clos Sorbé but also more backward and firmly tannic--more muscular in the early going. Finishes with lingering black fruit perfume. |

In its impression of volume without weight, this wine makes a good transition between Duband's premier crus and grand crus. |

Vinous (93-95)(from Mazoyères-Chambertin; a majority of these vines were planted in 1920): Moderately saturated medium red. Very deep nose combines ripe raspberry, spices and sexy soil tones. Very rich, fat and ripe, conveying a liqueur-like quality to its red fruit flavors. Concentrated, broad wine with lovely balancing acidity to leaven its fruit sweetness. Finishes with serious tannic grip but no dryness. Really saturates the palate on the broad, long finish. (Incidentally, Duband purchased half of this parcel two years ago and is beginning to replant it.) |

Vinous (92-94)(from a 1959 planting in the lieu-dit Clos de la Roche): Medium red. Sexy perfume of raspberry, rose petal and truffley underbrush.
