Pure and lifted in style, this boasts a core of vividly ripe red berry fruits that swirl beneath an air of violet inner florals. Saline mineral tones mount through the close. Blood orange and spice hints linger as the 2022 tapers off long and gently tannic. This leaves the mouth salivating. Frankly, it's hard to just taste and not drink the 2022 Rosso from Salvioni. |

Vinous (94)The 2023 Rosso di Montalcino is wonderfully unique compared to past vintages. A burst of strawberry and cherry meets complementary nuances of rose petal, dusty earth and leather strap. This stands out for its acidity, intense but the perfect counterbalance to its tart berry fruits and mineral saturation. A stern tug of tannin adds edginess toward the close. This comes across as wiry and structured but juicy. It will show lots of early appeal if paired with the right meal, but its old-school poise tempts me to cellar it for another three to five years. Having tasted this, I'm extremely excited to see what the Brunello from this vintage will yield. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2021 Chablis Les Fourneaux 1er Cru has a superb bouquet with scents of dried honey, wax resin and flinty aromas, powerful and very well focused. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, lovely salinity lending tension and persistence on the finish. As good a Fourneaux as you will find. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93)5 Star Wine. Bottled November. Clear mid lemon. The nose is stricter than the 2023, more a classic Vaillons, with mineral purity, white fruit, plenty of flesh but nicely balanced by the lees work. Very long finish here, an exceptionally fine Vaillons. The aftertaste just keeps on delivering. Drink from 2027-2035. Tasted Jun 2024. |
