Vinous - Neal Martin (89-91)I expressed reservations towards Pierre Lurton's 2019 Marjosse in my en primeur report earlier this year and as a result, a second sample was shipped to me. This was so much better. The aromatics are far more controlled and focused with the same black cherries and boysenberry without the shroud of alcohol. The palate is opulent and generous, but much more detailed compared to the first sample and demonstrating much more purity on the finish. This is much more in line with my expectations and I am happy to upgrade my score. |

Hailing from the prestigious Entre-Deux-Mers sub-region of Bordeaux, Marjosse Anthologie Cuvee Chardonneret 2022 showcases a perfect blend of finesse and sophistication. Produced by Château Marjosse, a vineyard run by elite winemaker Pierre Lurton, this white wine reveals Mr. Lurton's vow for meticulous detail. Hand-harvested, the predominantly Semillon grapes, with a hint of Sauvignon Blanc, are meticulously selected for their optimal ripeness, ensuring a harmonious balance. The grape juice, after rigorous pressing, is matured in oak barrels sourced from tight-grained French forests. This meticulous process imparts the wine with an evocative spectrum of floral and fruity notes. On the palate, the Marjosse Anthologie Cuvee Chardonneret 2022 exhibits delicate flavours of fresh citrus peels and white flowers, with an invigorating undertone of minerality. The finish is wonderfully long, rich and buttery, indicative of its oak ageing lineage. Truly a collector's gem and a testament to Bordeaux's viticulture prowess. |

The Wine Independent (96)The 2020 Anthologie Cuvee Gros Bec is 100% Malbec from very old vines planted in 1949. The wine is fermented in barrel without too much extraction and aged for a maximum of one year to keep the fresh aromas. Production is very small. Deep garnet-purple in color, it storms out of the glass with powerful notes of baked blackberries, stewed plums, and boysenberry preserves, plus wafts of Chinese five spice, dark chocolate, and candied violets. The full-bodied palate is overflowing with gregarious black and blue fruits, framed by velvety tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. |

The Wine Independent (95)The 2020 Anthologie Cuvee Ortolan is made from 100% Cabernet Franc, with very small production. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a fair bit of swirling to reveal notes of crushed redcurrants, black raspberries, and fresh blackberries, plus hints of wild sage, crushed rocks, and pencil shavings. The medium-bodied palate is electric with vibrant red and black berry layers, supported by fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, leading to a long and shimmery finish on this lovely wine. |
