A powerful, virile 2011, Gazin reveals a dense ruby/purple color, a big, meaty, earthy richness, lots of coffee, black cherry liqueur and spice notes, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. It will benefit from another 3-4 years of cellaring and should keep for 15+ years.Inc. TAX€535.44 -
Wine Advocate (94)
The 2014 Gazin was stubborn and broody when tasted in bottle, but give it a few swirls and there comes forth gravel and black truffle scents alongside sultry black fruit. These aromatics are so engaging and involving, drawing you in towards it charms. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and taut with great precision and sappiness towards the focused, almost symmetrical, black truffle-laced finish. This continues Gazin's fine run of form, a great Pomerol from an estate predisposed these days to create sophisticated, classic wines.Inc. TAX€740.16 -

A straight up smokin’ red from this vintage is the 2015 Château Gazin and it’s a big, powerful, stacked 2015 that’s for those with patience. Made from almost all Merlot (I think it’s 100%), my notes on this beauty start - and end - with “love it.” Cassis, lead pencil shavings, graphite, forest floor, and tons of minerality all soar from the glass of this sensationally rich, concentrated, medium to full-bodied 2015 that has building tannin, a seamless texture, and a blockbuster finish. Forget bottle for 5-7 years and enjoy over the following two to three decades.Inc. TAX€669.59 -

Medium-bodied and elegant, with compelling restraint, it has a seductively plush texture, finishing with bags of poise, perfume and persistence.Inc. TAX€1,192.06 -

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)
One of the more overt reds of the vintage, the 2014 Gazin Rocquencourt is plump, juicy and expressive. Super-ripe red cherry, pomegranate, spice, new leather and rose petal give the wine its dark, succulent personality and soft contours. Smoke, sweet floral notes and grilled herbs add attractive aromatic top notes, but in 2014, Gazin is all about fruit intensity and suppleness. This is an especially racy, voluptuous Pessac-Leognan that is ready to deliver tons of pleasure with minimal cellaring. It is not particularly complex, but it offers striking upfront sexiness. In 2014 the blend is equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This is a terrific showing from the Bonnie family and consulting winemaker Michel Rolland. Tasted three times.Inc. TAX€416.16 -

It's a harmonious blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Sémillon, matured for 12 months in oak barrels crafting a refreshing and balanced palatal experience. Talent behind the wine is producer Thomas Bertrand Gazin, stemming from a family imbued with winemaking mastery. A tribute to local tradition, the 2014 Barolo Albe represents an assembly of fruit from various vineyard plots throughout the area. Winemaking is classic in approach with a 25-day maceration period and aging in large Slavonian oak casks. This vintage shows silky, fine lines and a more accessible approach for near and medium-term drinking. I would recommend a few more years of bottle aging, however, to allow the wine the time to grow in texture and mouthfeel.Inc. TAX€519.36
