  • Claude Dugat La Gibryotte Gevrey-Chambertin 2019 (12x75cl)

All of the fruit is 100% destemmed, and fermentations take place in concrete tanks with gentle punch-downs twice a day, which they prefer over pump-overs to limit the amount of oxygen ingress. The juice is left in the tank for about two weeks before being racked to barrel for malolactic and ageing; the juice is left to settle for two days prior to being racked to barrel. A fair amount of new oak is used in the wines; the village wine, for example, is aged in 60% new François’ Frères oak barrels for an average of 16 months before bottling without filtration. Each label is a benchmark for quality, and they are often hallmarked by a generous and elegant style.

The Gevrey Chambertin we have on offer today is a village wine from the Négoce business. This village bottling from a “grand” (BH) vintage and illustrious winemaking family offers extraordinary value. For clients who wish to savour the house style without spending a considerable fortune (HK$1,000 per bottle for a Domaine village bottling), Claude Dugat La Gibryotte Gevrey-Chambertin 2019 is the perfect place to start.

  • Claude Dugat Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru 2008 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (95+)

Bright, dark red. Ripe, deep aromas of crushed blackberry, blueberry, licorice and menthol. Silky on entry, then juicy and energetic in the mid-palate, displaying outstanding vivacity to its explosive dark fruit and floral flavors. • Claude Dugat Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2020 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a complex nose, not a million miles away from the Chapelle, though maybe without quite the same thrilling degree of cohesion. Cold wet limestone mixes with Morello cherries and white-tipped strawberries. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins, a lovely bitter edge counterbalancing the richness of this Griotte, probably the most structured of Dugat's cuvées on the finish. Superb.
  • Claude Dugat Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru 2021 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (94-96)

There are two barrels of the 2021 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru to go round this year. There is a bit of reduction on the nose, though it seems to have a similar aromatic profile to the spellbinding Chapelle-Chambertin with crystalline red fruit. The palate is fabulous: slightly grainy tannins that frame petite confit-like red fruit, a healthy dose of white pepper with a supremely well balanced finish that has superb backbone. One for keeping.

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Villages is superb, unfurling in the glass with a youthful bouquet of sweet cassis, wild berries and peony that mingles with subtle hints of candied peel, grilled meat and rich forest floor. It's a beautiful wine that exemplifies the fragrant, precise style that Bertrand Dugat and his siblings are coaxing from their family's enviable patrimony of old and meticulously farmed vines.
