  • Andremily Mourvedre 2020 (12x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (98)

More meaty, gamey notes of black raspberries, blueberries, ground pepper, and hints of iron define the 2020 Mourvedre, another incredibly powerful, intense wine that stays flawlessly balanced. It's concentrated, has ripe, polished tannins, and nicely integrated acidity, all making for an incredible expression of Mourvèdre. This closes down with air, so I'd recommend trying a bottle over the coming year or two or giving it 5-7 years in the cellar. This is an insanely gorgeous bottle of wine that should see its 20th birthday in fine form.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose of the 2022 Mourvèdre is so fragrant, giving up expressive notes of juicy blackberries, plum preserves, and black raspberries, leading to an undercurrent of lavender, violets, and forest floor. The full-bodied palate has a rock-solid texture of firm, grainy tannins and beautifully balanced acidity with taut, muscular black fruit and a long, Darjeeling tea-laced finish.

Lastly, the Syrah-dominated 2021 No 10 reveals a dense purple hue as well as a wild bouquet of blueberries, wild strawberries, ground pepper, game, iron, and assorted floral, meaty nuances. Stunningly complex even at this young age, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel, ample tannins and underlying structure, and a finish that won’t quit. • Andrew Will Champoux Horse Heaven Hills 2016 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (97)

One of the finest examples of this cuvée I’ve tasted is the 2016 Champoux Vineyard, which comes from one of the top terroirs in the state and is in the slightly cooler Horse Heaven Hills AVA. The blend in 2016 is 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc, all aged 18 months in just 25% new French oak. Young, full-bodied, and primordial, it has incredible potential but is going to need 4-5 years of bottle age. Thrilling notes of blueberries, cassis, lead pencil shavings, and bouquet garni all define the bouquet and it has remarkable purity and elegance. It picks up more floral and high-toned notes with time in the glass and is a brilliant bottle of wine that will keep for 2-3 decades.

Deep ruby with purple highlights, the 2017 Champoux Vineyard is a stunning success with elegance and complexity bursting at the seams. Seductive blackberry essence, dusty plum skin, dark cherries and cassis waft out of the glass with delicate dusty floral tones, dried tobacco and graphite nuances. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is balanced with rich complexity and an elegant mineral tension before offering up a clearly delineated fruit frame compounded by focus, precision and finesse. At present, the wine has a pleasingly tannic edge and finishes with a mineral tension and red-fruited succulence that continue to evolve in the mouth. Simply stellar!

  • Angelus 1986 (1x75cl)
  • Angelus 1993 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (92)

In the new classification of St.-Emilion, justice was certainly served with the elevation of Angelus to premier grand cru classe status. No Bordeaux estate has been making as concentrated and consistently high quality wines as has Angelus since 1988. Even in the rain-plagued vintage of 1992, Angelus produced a wine of uncommon power, ripeness, and intensity. This estate is in many ways symbolic of what heights Bordeaux can achieve when a property is managed by someone as passionate and driven as Hubert de Bouard. As I have been writing for the last decade, these are wines to buy at first release; they can only go up in price given their quality. One of the four or five most concentrated wines of the vintage, this opaque, black/purple-colored 1993 offers an intensely fragrant nose of smoke, olives, chocolate, black fruits, hickory, and sweet, spicy oak. Amazingly rich and full-bodied, with massive extract, it is almost unbelievable that this wine could have been produced in a vintage such as 1993. Give it 3-4 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following 15-18 years.

  • Angelus 1994 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 1994

    Vinous - Neal Martin (94)

The 1994 Angélus is everything you could want from a mature Saint-Émilion without pretentiousness. Gorgeous scents of red fruit, loam, chestnut and smoke blossom on the nose, hinting at possibly 1995 rather than 1994. Merlot is in the driving seat. The palate has wonderful balance and a keen line of acidity, fully mature yet certainly showing no signs of reaching the end of its drinking window. Mellow with pliant tannins softened by age, the Angélus boasts surprising depth and flesh, with hints of dried blood and game towards the finish. If you see a bottle, do yourself a favor.
  • Angelus 1995 (1x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (94)

The 1995 Angélus has a gorgeous bouquet with savoury red berry fruit, meat juices, cumin and light ferrous notes—very complex and engaging with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a savoury entry, and the tannins have softened since I last tasted this vintage. It's decidedly old-school in style, and maybe a bit Bretty? But it is full of character and maintains impressive freshness on the finish, with white pepper and thyme lingering on the aftertaste. Drinking perfectly now. Opened at the château.

It has an incredible array of smoked meats, incense, cigar box and dusty earth notions over a core of baked cherries, dried mulberries, preserved plums and dried roses with wafts of lavender, menthol and new leather. The palate is medium to full-bodied, rich, intense and packed with black fruit preserves accented by complex savory and earth-inspired flavors, supported by wonderful freshness, textured by plush tannins and finishing with fantastic tension.

    Wine Advocate (98)

The 1998 Angélus, a blend of 40% Cabernet Franc and 60% Merlot, is deep garnet colored with a touch of brick. The nose is completely...WOW! This still has loads of life—25+ more years!

    (12x75cl) 1999

    Wine Spectator (92)

Coffee bean, berry and spice aromas, almost raisiny, follow through to a full body, with lots of rich fruit and a tobacco, cedar, berry and toasty oak finish. Loads going on. Opulent for the vintage. Chewy tannins too. Serious. Still needs some time.¿'89/'99 Bordeaux blind retrospective (2009). Best after 2011. 4,165 cases made. -JS

This 7,500-case blend of 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc is one of the strongest wines of the vintage. A deep blue/purple hue is accompanied by classic aromas of smoky blueberries and blackberries as well as incense and floral notes in the background.
