The finest wine I've tasted from this estate, the 2020 Château Bellefont-Belcier is an incredibly gorgeous blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep ruby/purple-hued, it offers a great nose of cassis, ripe black cherries, camphor, dried flowers, cedar, and forest floor. Bringing gorgeous richness, it nevertheless stays flawlessly balanced, with ultra-fine tannins and a great finish. The purity of fruit here is just about off the charts. While it already offers pleasure, it's going to benefit from short-term cellaring and have 20-25 years of prime drinking. This estate uses a five-day cold soak and fermentation, all in concrete, spanning 25 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barrel (four months on lees), and the wine spends 18 months in 30% new French oak, with the balance in once- and twice-used barrels. Yields in 2020 were also reasonable at 34 hectoliters per hectare.

Flowers, plums, espresso, mint leaf, spice, cedar and blackberries create the nose. The fruits express purity and symmetry in the finish. The wine blends 72% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.15% ABV, 3.45 pH. Harvesting took place September 7 - October 6. The wine is aging in 30% new French oak barrels, 30% in foudres and 40% in used oak barrels.

The 2018 Bellegrave has a wonderful, very pure and enticing bouquet of black cherries, wild strawberry, heather and potpourri scents that blossom in the glass; the oak is very well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins. This Pomerol is enhanced by a silky-smooth texture and wonderful cohesion on the finish. Simply an excellent, delicious wine from Jean-Marie Bouldy that should give 12–15 years of drinking pleasure.

The 2020 Bellegrave is well-defined and poised on the nose, blackberry and briary, hints of truffle unfolding with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a graphite-infused entry. Quite solid and structured, almost like a "mini-Lafleur", with a well-defined and persistent finish that has splendid mineralité. Very fine.

The 2019 Beaune Les Grèves 1er Cru comes from vines planted in 1904. The well-defined bouquet presents a nicely focused mixture of red and black fruit, white pepper and sage and touches of black truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with good grip and notes of white pepper and cumin, deepening toward the finish. Superb structure and probably the most length of Potel’s Beaune Premier Crus. Classy.
