Pouilly-Fuissé has become one of the most talked-about topics among wine connoisseurs in recent years. This is, in no small part, due to the INAO's decision to elevate the classification of 21 sites to 1er Cru status in 2021. These sites have gained recognition for their unique, ancient terroir, which has led to a new wave of young and talented vignerons emerging from Côte Maconnais to work diligently in the vineyard to rejuvenate the appellation. As a result, the quality of the wines has never been better.

One of Burgundy’s most renowned families, Leflaive, has tapped into this emerging land and established a niche négociant business, Esprit Leflaive. A new venture that stretches from Chablis to the Mâconnais, the project sources fruits from growers who share the same ethos as Domaine Leflaive and manage their vineyards organically or biodynamically.

The wines under this label are given almost the same level of care as the ones from the domaine. However, instead of using barriques, Lefalive's general manager, Pierre Vincent, said they prefer to use a combination of concrete eggs and demi-muids. This technique results in a leaner, more reductive style that preserves the core and purity of the fruits.

Their Pouilly-Fuissé is a standout cuvée that showcases the overall quality of this appellation. Sourced from clay-dominant soil and harvested earlier than other sites, it is a generous and rich Chardonnay, with a wealth of exotic and stone-fruit aromas. The palate is juicy and succulent, with tropical fruit notes and a lingering finish.

Not yet tasted or scored by critics, we are delighted to introduce this wine to Burgundy lovers in two distinct vintages - 2018 and 2019. Both vintages were excellent for Chardonnay, with 2018 being slightly cooler and more citrusy, while 2019 was more full-bodied and opulent with tropical fruit flavors.
