Chanin 2022s
Whilst studying art at UCLA, Gavin Chanin began his winemaking career at age 18 as a harvest intern at Au Bon Climat and Qupé. Under the tutelage of famed Santa Barbara winemakers Jim Clendenen and Bob Lindquist, Gavin eventually worked his way up to assistant winemaker at both labels. He launched Chanin Wines in 2007 with a focus on making Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from individual vineyard sites in Santa Barbara County.
With the connections he made whilst working at Au Bon Climat, he gained access to fruit from the region’s most prized vineyard sites, such as Sanford & Benedict, Los Alamos and Bien Nacido. All coming from cool climate sites heavily influenced by the Pacific, his Pinot Noir and Chardonnay expressions have an ethereal purity that really stands them apart whilst the stunning labels on the Chanin Wine bottles are all pieces of Gavin’s own artwork and reflective of his creative mind.
