The 2018 Barolo Pajana comes across as disjointed. There is good energy in the glass, but the wine never comes together in the glass. Dried out fruit, unfocused aromatics and a compact finish are the signatures.

Aged in all new barriques Full red-ruby. Perfumed aromas of red berries and oak spices. Chewy, lush and strong in extract, but, unlike the Ginestra, this already shows compelling sweetness and thickness. A sexy wine of great class. Offers a real peacock tail of a finish. Very full and very long, with utterly suave, fine tannins.

Deep, bright red. Sappy aromas of kirsch, mocha, tobacco, licorice and spicy, roasted oak. Sweet and thick but with lovely vibrancy and delineation. This has remarkably penetrating fruit and terrific grip. Finishes strong and long; the wine's firm tannins will require a good six or seven years of additional bottle aging. But promises to be one of the stars of the vintage.

The 2018 Suisassi (Syrah) is another exceptional wine in this range. Dark and racy, the 2018 offers up copious blue/blackish fruit, lavender, menthol and chocolate. There's real depth and density here, but not the heaviness of the past. Once again, Luca D'Attoma and Elena Celli crafted a unique and totally distinctive wine. Superb.

The 2015 Duemani (Cabernet Franc) is a powerful, sumptuous wine endowed with considerable depth. Dried herbs, leather, cedar, smoke and tobacco give the Duemani its distinctive aromatic signatures. Even though the 2015 is quite powerful, the presence of slightly forward aromas leads me to believe it is best enjoyed sooner rather than later.

Edi Kante La Bora di Kante 2006 leaves a long-lasting imprint of refined elegance and understated power on the discerning palate. An embodiment of a storied tradition, it's a tribute to the terroir of Carso.

Renowned for its excellence, the Edoardo Sobrino, Barolo, Monvigliero 2017 is an epitome of craftsmanship from the Piedmont region of Italy. This sublime Barolo is crafted from Nebbiolo grapes meticulously selected from the Monvigliero vineyard. Here's a new discovery that I'd like to broadcast far and near. This Riserva is a new wine from Elena Fucci that was initiated with this vintage. It is a limited-edition wine made only in magnums. In fact, I tasted bottle number 1 of 400 made to write this review. The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Superiore Riserva Titolo is a dark and savory expression with an evolved and profound bouquet that covers all the bases. It offers dried fruit and blackberry with smoke, ash and crushed river stone. That mineral identity is the wine's most important defining characteristic. Aglianico tends to deliver astringent tannins, but this Riserva shows excellent integration and structural management. A new benchmark wine for southern Italy has just been created.

The 2021 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo 25th Anniversary requires an extended amount of time open in bottle or decanter before truly opening up to reveal its charms. A collage of sweet herbs, crushed rocks, underbrush, black olives and wild berries greets the senses with a tilt of the glass. This is luxuriously smooth, with a balanced inner sweetness and a cascade of mineral tones giving way to balsamic-infused blackberries and tart cherries. It leaves a tinge of sour citrus and rosemary to offset cheek-puckering tension and edgy tannins, finishing incredibly long yet with a welcoming structure that should permit pleasurable drinking after only a few years of cellaring.
