Fruitier and more forward than usual for a young wine from Emidio Pepe (in my experience, these reds improve spectacularly with bottle age, showing their best at 8 to 10 years from the vintage) and atypically dominated by black rather than red fruit notes, this also strikes me as less deep than most other past great vintages of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo from this estate.Inc.
