(6x75cl) 2023Capichera Vermentino Gallura Angiò 2023 epitomises the pristine elegance of Sardinia’s renowned Gallura region. Crafted by Capichera, a distinguished family estate celebrated for its commitment to terroir expression, this Vermentino showcases meticulous vineyard management in the Angiò appellation. Handpicked Vermentino grapes undergo gentle pressing, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve their vibrant acidity and aromatic purity. The wine is then aged briefly on lees, enhancing its complexity and texture without overshadowing its fresh character. The result is a brilliantly clear pale straw wine, offering enticing notes of citrus, green apple, and subtle floral undertones, balanced by a crisp, mineral-driven finish. Capichera’s dedication to sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking techniques is evident in every bottle, making Capichera Vermentino Gallura Angiò 2023 a quintessential choice for discerning wine enthusiasts seeking authentic Sardinian expression.

Although this wine does not follow the logic of the MGA (or official map of vineyard crus) for Barolo, fruit is sourced exclusively from the Gabutti vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba. The 2013 Barolo Otin Fiorin Piè Rupestris is a magically ethereal, light and delicate expression that delivers a silky embroidery of wild raspberry, rose, dried violet and crushed stone aromas. The wine shows an incredibly fine and nuanced texture that lacks any overt sense of power or muscle but that instead imparts impressive length, depth and general dimension. The wine shows the richness of Serralunga d'Alba but remains light-footed and delicately fleeting all the while.Inc. TAX€655.68 -

The 2014 Barolo Barolo Rupestris is a very pretty, fragrant wine. In this vintage, the Rupestris is a bit more ethereal than it usually is, and yet there is a lovely underpinning of structure that gives the wine its shape. Beautifully perfumed and gracious, the 2014 Rupestris opens with enticing scents of sweet tobacco, mint, dried herbs, orange peel, dried cherry, cedar and rose petal. The 2014 should drink well with minimal cellaring, but I expect it will also age gracefully while retaining its somewhat delicate feel.Inc. TAX€391.68 -

The 2020 Barolo Rupestris is an elegant, sculpted wine. It shows the mid-weight structure of the year nicely. Sweet red cherry fruit, mint, chalk, white pepper, orange peel and dried flowers open with some coaxing. I would leave this alone in the cellar for a few years, as time in bottle is essential here. I won't be surprised if this fills out a bit over the coming years, as is often the case here. Many years ago Baldo Cappellano asked me not to score his wines, so all Cappellano wines show up on our database as NR.Inc. TAX€1,156.79 -
