Jeb Dunnuck (91)The 2022 Barbera D'Alba offers a more luxurious, oak-spiced profile in its notes of toasted cedar, baked plum, vanilla beans, and violets. Full-bodied, plush, ripe, and long, it’s going to take time to integrate. Give it at least another year or two and drink over the following 6-8 years. Vinous (95)The 2011 Barolo Cannubi Boschis is super impressive. Early signs of aromatic nuance have started to develop, but just barely. More than anything else, the 2011 impresses for its body and pure depth, both of which the 2011 has in spades. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and spice all build as this dramatic Barolo shows off its allure. The 2011 has aged beautifully. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade. Vinous (97+)The 2013 Barolo Aleste is a wine of striking purity and nuance. It is also one of the most finessed, vivid young Barolos I have ever tasted from Sandrone. The translucence of Nebbiolo comes through loud and clear. Freshly cut flowers, mint and finely cut fruit are some of the signatures. This wine has developed beautifully in recent vintages as the oak influence is less than it was just a few years ago. Beams of tannin and bright, salivating acidity add finesse to this translucent, exceptional Barolo. Aleste is the new name Sandrone is using for the Barolo formerly known as Cannubi Boschis. |

Wine Advocate (93)This is the second year Aleste is produced instead of Cannubi Boschis, however the grapes are exactly the same. The 2014 Barolo Aleste is named after Luciano Sandrone's grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. The 2014 is still wound up and will require extra time to find its footing. The Sandrone family lost 25% of their fruit production in this challenging harvest. The wine offers fragrant notes of wild cherry and cassis with smoke, crushed stone and candied orange peel. The tannins are firm and textured. It is the palate (more than the nose) that requires more time to soften. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97)The 2015 Barolo Aleste was also tasted at the estate alongside the 2021 vintage and is an incredible wine at this moment. While I occasionally find some wines from 2015 to be heavier than I prefer, this one showcases fantastic balance in its depth and expressive personality. It reveals raspberry, cherry liqueur, fresh leather, porcini, sweet spice, and tobacco aromas. The palate is expansive, awakens the senses, and possesses profound depth as well as freshness, making it an excellent choice to enjoy now or over the next 15 years. |

Hailing from the revered winemaker, Lorenzo Accomasso, the Langhe Nebbiolo 2020 amalgamates time-honoured methods with a unique terroir. The vineyard, nestled in the culturally rich region of Langhe, in the heart of Piedmont, Italy, gifts a remarkable soil composition, providing an exceptional environment for Nebbiolo grapes. This distinguished wine masterpiece, Lorenzo Accomasso Langhe Nebbiolo 2020, was crafted with traditional winemaking methods, aged exquisitely in wooden barrels, bringing forth a complex and balanced aroma spectrum. Its profound, garnet red colour harmonises with the unfiltered nature, encapsulating truffles, dried rose petals, and subtle hints of cherry. The palate is persistently elegant with supple tannins and astounding length, embodying Accomasso’s much-celebrated oeuvre of over seven decades. Lorenzo Accomasso Langhe Nebbiolo 2020 stands as a testament to Accomasso's commitment to producing world-class wines, remaining authentic to Italian tradition whilst pioneering innovative viticulture and vinification practices. |

One of the finest offerings of the prestigious Piedmont region, the Luca Bosio Barolo 2015 showcases the winemaking excellence that characterises the Bosio family's work. From vineyards boasting calcareous clay soil, this 100% Nebbiolo varietal presents a resounding testament to Italian viticultural prowess. Luca Bosio painstakingly ages this wine in French oak barrels for at least three years, honouring traditions initiated by Bosio patriarch, Egidio. The result is a wine with striking garnet-red hues, an expressive nose of roses and ripe cherries, and a full-bodied palate that marries polite tannins with enamouring dark fruit flavours. The subtle influence of oak and well-poised acidity render the Luca Bosio Barolo 2015 truly harmonious, its enduring finish hinting at promising cellar evolution. Admirers of finely crafted Italian wines will unquestionably appreciate this exquisite delineation of the Nebbiolo grape's potential. |

A robust and warming wine, this is a solid entry for Cab drinkers. |

Vinous (96)Luciano Sandrone’s 1985 Barolo Cannubi Boschis blossoms on the palate with expressive aromatics and layers of fruit, both supported by silky tannins. An early masterpiece from Sandrone, the 1985 is peaking today. I don’t imagine it will improve much from here, but it is stunning right now. |

This is a re-release from the winery. |
