Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2020 La Pointe has a well-defined, quite mineral-driven bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. Black cherries, raspberry and subtle violet scents, gaining intensity with aeration. The bottle opened at the château with Eric Monneret shows more graphite/pencil lead elements. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, linear in style, fresh with a vibrant saline finish. I appreciate the manner in which it fans out. Subtle but satisfying, this is a sophisticated Pomerol that adroitly expresses its sense of place. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (89)The 2017 La Prade is rich and powerful, just as it was from barrel. A rush of blackberry jam, gravel, spice, leather and smoke gives the 2017 its somber, virile personality. Potent in both its fruit and tannic structure, the 2017 could use a year or two in bottle to come together, but I imagine it will always remain a bit rustic. There is no shortage of intensity, that much is clear. Yields are down 50% - 7 hectares in production, 4.5 were not frosted, but this is rustic. Tasted three times. |

Jeb Dunnuck (93)From the talented Nicolas Thienpont, the 2019 Château La Prade sports a deep ruby/purple color to go with a great nose of spicy dark fruits, damp earth, and violet. Wonderfully pure, medium-bodied, elegant, and seamless on the palate, it's easily the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted. It's going to drink brilliantly for 10-12 years. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (90)The 2010 Réserve de Léoville Barton offers loam-infused black fruit on the nose, touches of smoke and tobacco emerging with time, overtly classic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins that frame the bright red and black fruit. Very harmonious with quite a persistent minty finish, it is not terribly complex but is charming and conveys an effortless quality. Recommended. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal. |

Jeb Dunnuck (91)A total charmer with plenty of up-front appeal, the 2019 La Réserve De Léoville Barton offers up lots of red and black currants, cedar pencil, leafy herbs, and a touch of spring flowers in a more medium-bodied, nicely balanced, fleshy, and forward style. It will keep for 10-12 years. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (89)The 2020 La Réserve de Léoville Barton has a crisp blackberry, tobacco and slight minty bouquet with impressive harmony. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-chiseled tannins, not deep or concentrated, yet showing much more precision than the La Réserves that I used to taste a decade ago. Classy. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90)The 2018 La Réserve de Malartic-Lagravière is a very pretty, fruity wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Hints of iron, cedar, tobacco, mint and dried herbs add an attractive, savory touch. There is, in my view, a bit too much oak that is felt in the slightly aggressive tannins, but that won't be an issue if the 2018 is enjoyed over the next handful of years. |

Wine Advocate (95)Based on the 2022 vintage and disgorged in January 2025 with a dosage of 1.5 grams per liter, the NV Blanc de Blancs Bourg/Sud reveals a deep bouquet of orange oil, freshly baked bread, pear and early-blooming spring flowers. It is medium- to full-bodied, fleshy and textural, with a palate laden with ripe yet racy acids and framed by chalky structuring extract that imparts a compensatory impression of freshness, culminating in a long, saline finish. The 2022 vintage represents the first to be vinified in the new winery and also marks a considerable increase in the proportion of reserve wines, which has risen to 40%. As readers will recall from my previous writing, this cuvée is born from the division of La Rogerie’s Lieux de Vie: the new Bourg/Sud is sourced from sites in the southern part of the estate and is heavily based on Avize fruit. |
